Sambone L. Jackson: The Best Dog EVER!

On May 5th 2006 we adopted a dog from you.  His name was Dakota once and then Sam.  He is a yellow lab.  We figured he should keep his name so he wouldn't be confused but with some modification.  Sambone L. Jackson is now his proper name.  When we got Sam he had already been returned to you by other adopters.  They tried to make him an outside dog or a hunting dog.  Sam, we found out later, is gun-shy and allergic to creeping charlie.  That would explain why he didn't like to be outside and he wasn't a good hunting dog.  He is however the perfect housedog.  Though he's pretty sure he's a lap dog.  He house trained after one accident.  He chewed only one sandal. He helps clean the yard by carrying trash to the dumpster. He helps bring in the groceries by carrying the handle of the bags.  He is glued to my side every waking moment and shows nothing more than a desire to please us.  He's so smart and perceptive.  I know you probably get a lot of brag stories about the dogs you adopt out, but I must say that for a dog no one wanted Sam is truely remarkable.  He was so skinny and not attractive at all we came to meet him and the kids weren't sure he was the one, but now they wouldn't know what to do without him.  Neither would I.  We didn't have to put much effort into training him as he cowers when someone raises their voice.  It's not only us who get to enjoy Sam.  All of the neighborhood kids come to play with him. He initiates games of keep away and wears all of them out.  He's gentle and soft mouthed and careful even with the little toddlers who try to ride him like a pony or take away his chewing bone.  He is my right hand man and when I think back to before him I realize the void he fills.  I can't thank you enough for taking the risk of adopting him out to someone so far away.  I understand the apprehension you must have felt when we took him too far away for you to check up on him.  I assure you he is well cared for and deeply loved here with us and I have enclosed photos of him before and after style.

Thank You so very very much,
Amanda B.
