Marty and Tuck...

Some dogs suffer unreasonable fears – loud noises, thunderstorms, being alone are among the most common.   Marty, a dog adopted from the Nebraska Humane Society in 2002 was one such dog.  She is what we often call a “needy” dog.  That is because she needs reassurance and company or she will become filled with panic – actually begin to pant and shake.  Marty is the kind of dog that is easy to give up on.  Left alone, with her own day / nightmares, this type of dog can be very destructive.  Not the kind of damage we associate with boredom, rather an outward manifestation of anxiety, of panic.  But it is not always possible to be with your dog... enter Tuck.  He was the last puppy of a litter of what seemed to be black lab crossed with a coon hound?  All of his brothers got a home, but there sat little Tuck, left behind, all alone with a long closed session on hand at the Humane Society of NW Iowa.  Tuck needed a friend; Marty needed a friend.  The picture tells the rest of the story.
