Tweeter

Adoption date: January 29, 2010

We just wanted to send you an update on Tweeter. He is doing great in his new home - and we have the furry family member we have always wanted. He has been having a little trouble with marking in the house, but we attribute that to our house having cats before we bought it. He is doing great working on stopping as soon as we see him lift his leg, and our vet has given us great pointers. We are pleased with his progress. We've also found out that he has cataracts in both eyes with the right being significantly worse than the left. It's likely he may need surgery in the future on the right eye if it start building up pressure. But even with these minor things, he brings us so much joy! He has a great loving personality and loves to cuddle.. and spreads his love to not only myself and my husband but also our 7 year old son. Every morning he runs right upstairs to jump on his bed and give him kisses to wake him up. I'm not sure who loves it more Tweeter or our son! They are inseparable!

Tweeter is an old soul and we couldn't be happier with him! He is amazing, climbs right into his crate when it's bed time. He doesn't bark at all (unless he hears something or someone he isn't used to - he's a great watchdog!) and loves playing tug-of war. We are working on playing fetch and actually bringing back the ball, but I'm sure it will all come in good time. We will also be going through some obedience training this spring, just to fine tune what he already has learned from his previous owners. For only being a week since we brought him home, we are so happy with his progress and glad he has fit in so well with our active family.

I think we also want to stress to those thinking of adopting a dog, to not forget the older dogs. Sometimes we get so caught up in bringing home a cute puppy we forget that there are good dogs out there who are older, that are already housetrained and need a loving home for their last few years. We are hoping Tweeter sticks around for a lot more, but we are so happy with adopting an older dog. It couldn't have worked out better for us.

We are sad for the family that had to let him go, but glad they chose to bring him to the humane society for us to find him. We all love him so much already and couldn't imagine not having him in our lives. We all giggle every time we hear him resting peacefully and snoring.... :) Hopefully he is as happy with us as we are with him!

We'll try to send you photos soon!

Thanks for all you do!
