Herky
Adoption date: October 22, 2009
I just wanted to let you all know that our transition home yesterday with Herky went really well. Although he was a bit nervous, I don't think he has stopped purring since we brought him home! He has checked out every spot possible in the house and the meeting with our dog went really well. Herky did a bit of a Halloween kitty pose and hissed a bit and our dog was quite impressed with the display and stayed back. Since then, they both have become more comfortable with each other. I don't think it will be long before they are sleeping together on our bed. He is also doing really well with the kids. My son took a picture of him to preschool today to show everyone. I am attaching a couple of pictures for you to see. (My daughter is learning how to hold him, fortunately he doesn't mind being carried in any way she can. She now puts one arm under his armpits and the other under the back legs by his belly and Herky seems to really like it. He must not know cats are supposed to be picky about some things!)
Thank you for your hard work and for taking care of Herky while he was there,
Gwen W.

I just thought I would send an update and a couple more pictures of Herky. He is the most patient member of our family and he and the kids are inseparable. He will cry to get in with one of them if their bedroom door is closed. If one of them is having a hard time going to sleep, he has taken on the job of comforter and is doing excellent. He is more than willing to play along with any game they think of. I am sending pictures of his newest game with my daughter. She is pushing him around in her grocery cart. He rides in there for minutes at a time and he will now jump in the cart for a ride.
Thanks again,
Gwen W.
